To begin with, my task was to make a flyer as part of a student project. I chose a company named Stitch Fix which is focused on personal style service for men and women based on experienced stylists. The target audience is the age group of 35-50 years old people. The company offers various sizes for women 6-18 and S-XXL top sizes for men. Stitch Fix offers various brand so I think that people with higher income might afford this type of service. The customers have to be interested in fashion and have a desire to match the pieces of clothing. You pick your style and size, and stylists discover the right clothing for you with a 10£ styling fee. I think this kind of service makes it easy for customers as they just add preferences. Firstly, I decided to choose a combination of blue, black, and white colours. Blue as a cool, calming colour associated with professionalism. White colours in the meaning of aesthetic, simple and modern colour. Black colour as a very powerful and elegant colour. In my opinion, overall, it creates harmony and while looking on my flyer I can feel relax (Lundberg, 2021). Another reason, why I chose exactly these colours is that I decided to go with the colours of the logo. I think that it puts more attention to the brand itself.
Secondly, I wanted to tailor my fonts with the font of the logo. However, I used a different font for the promotion of social media and website. I tried to make up a slogan that would stand out and hence I came up with adjectives starting with the letter ´S´ which brings the reader attention. It underlines the fact that the name of the brand starts also with the letter ´S´. I aligned all the important information to the left to grab the attention (Bigman, 2021).
I wanted my typography to communicate my message clearly and that´s the reason why I put easy but also stylish fonts that would look unified. By my simple slogan, I wanted to emphasize the service of the company because it´s unusual. Moreover, I wanted to put some open space to put attention to the important elements in my design. From my point of view, the slogan truly outlines the brand recognition.
When looking for a picture, I found the women that wears a simple, formal outfit that goes with the pictures of outfits on the Instagram profile of Stitch Fix. The outfit is simple, formal, and elegant. I also bleached the picture a bit to make the text more visible and easier for reading.
I focused to increase the social media engagement, such as Instagram and Facebook.
According to Barry (2020), I decided to use after strategy which would make my flyer clear and easy for understanding.
I played with the sizes of the fonts so I can make a contrast. I followed ´SLIP IT´ strategy to make it clear, quick, simple, and relevant (Barry, 2020).
